Rede Partners’ former secondaries head resurfaces at Asante

Yaron Zafir will take a senior role at the placement agent and advisory firm, bringing its number of secondaries advisory professionals to 10.

The former head of secondaries at Rede Partners is back in the advisory market.

Yaron Zafir has joined London-headquartered Asante Capital Group as a senior advisor, according to his LinkedIn profile. He stood down as head of secondaries in January, staying on for two months as a senior advisor.

Zafir is the latest in a string of secondaries appointments at the placement agent, including the December hire of Jonathan Graham from DWS as a director of secondaries in London.

At the start of the year Asante also brought on Graeme Gunn, founder of the secondaries team at SL Capital Partners (now Aberdeen Standard Investments), as a senior advisor, Secondaries Investor understands.

Zafir will be actively involved in sourcing and advising on secondaries mandates, according to a person familiar with the matter. His appointment brings the number of professionals in Asante’s secondaries team to 10 – six in London and four in New York.

The team focuses on GP-led deals and has five ongoing processes, Secondaries Investor understands.

Asante’s plans to enter the secondaries advisory market were first reported on by Secondaries Investor in 2017.

Zafir was replaced as Rede’s head of secondaries by Magnus Goodlad, former chief of staff to Lord Rothschild and responsible for the private equity and venture capital investment programmes of the Rothschild family.

Asante has advised on $2 billion of secondaries transactions and raised $27 billion in primary capital, according to its website. Asante confirmed Zafir’s appointment to Secondaries Investor.
