Optimize picks up Setter veteran

Gurdeep Gill has joined former Setter MD Robert McGrath at his recently launched fund of funds-focused secondaries firm.

Setter Capital has lost a nine-year veteran to Optimize Capital Partners, the fund of funds-focused secondaries firm set up by former Setter managing director Robert McGrath.

Gurdeep Gill joined Optimize as a principal, according to the firm’s website, and his LinkedIn profile shows he started in March. Gill had been at Setter since 2008 and was most recently a senior vice-president and senior member of the fund advisory team.

McGrath told Secondaries Investor he had enjoyed working with Gill at Setter and looked forward to continuing collaboration at Optimize.

In February, Secondaries Investor reported that McGrath had launched Optimize to help institutional investors achieve target allocations to private markets through purchases of stakes in funds of funds.

Optimize seeks stakes in funds of funds which have between $10 million to $200 million-plus or more in net asset value, and are between 2004- to 2012-vintage across generalist, large buyout, distress, energy and venture capital strategies.

The firm has seven staff, according to its website.
