Idinvest hires IR and marketing head for global push

Charles Daulon du Laurens has been hired to help the firm internationalise its investor base across primaries, secondaries, VC and mezzanine.

Idinvest Partners, a Europe-focused primary, secondaries and mezzanine investor, has appointed a new global head of investor relations and marketing to help it expand beyond its French home market.

According to a statement from the firm, Charles Daulon du Laurens will be in charge of capital raising, investor relations and marketing on a global basis, managing teams in Europe and Asia. Last week was his first, he told Secondaries Investor.

His appointment is to support the firm’s move from a largely French investor base to a global one, he said. The phased expansion will start in Europe, then Asia and the Middle East, where the firm has offices, and eventually North America.

The push will be largely focused on pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and insurance companies.

Daulon du Laurens joins from AXA IM-Real Assets, an alternatives investor with €71 billion in assets under management, according to its website, where he was global head of client capital group and a member of the executive committee. In that role he was responsible for third-party capital raising, client relationship management and client servicing.

Idinvest Secondary Fund III closed in June on €442 million, exceeding its target of €400 million. The fund hit a €350 million first close in September 2016, after nine months of fundraising.

“ISF III will continue Idinvest’s diverse investment focus on small and mature secondaries in the European mid-market, which we believe still presents a sizeable, attractive and under-exploited segment of the much larger mainstream secondaries market,” Christophe Simon, Idinvest’s head of private funds group, said in a statement at the time of first close.

Paris-headquartered Idinvest has €7.1 billion in assets under management and invests in European start-ups, primary, secondaries and mezzanine deals.
