Greenpark expands investment team

The UK-based secondary specialist has added Matthew Arkinstall to its team.

London-based secondaries firm Greenpark Capital has hired Matthew Arkinstall as investment director.

Arkinstall spent the last 10 years as a specialist in private equity and infrastructure investment at Australian life insurance firm MLC’s private equity investment team, which he helped found in 1997. The firm which, manages over A$100 billion (€52 billion; $70 billion) in funds, has approximately A$4 billion in private equity programmes, Arkinsall told PEO.

Before that Arkinstall worked as a principal investor for Australian infrastructure investment bank Australian Industry Development Corporation, which was acquired by Babcock & Brown in 1997.

He joins a team of 12 investment professionals and will be responsible for sourcing secondary private equity deals in Australasia, the United States, and Europe.

He told PEO now is an excellent time to shift to secondary investing given current market dislocation. “If the commentary is to be believed, there is likely to be a large surge in activity in the secondary space over the coming period,” Arkinsall said.

Greenpark manages €1.3 billion of capital across three funds.
