GIC seeks secondaries professional

Singapore's $344bn sovereign wealth fund hired a former Pantheon exec in October and is seeking a secondaries professional for its Singapore office.

The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), the eighth largest sovereign wealth fund in the world, is looking for a secondaries investment professional to work in its Singapore headquarters, according to its website.

The associate will work on new investment opportunities with the private equity secondaries group, evaluate and monitor fund and direct secondaries investments, and evaluate fund managers and strategy teams, according to the job description. The candidate should also possess strong financial modelling, research and writing skills.

GIC requires one to three years of private equity, investment banking or consulting experience for the role. The position is within GIC’s Funds and Co-Investments Group.

The recruitment comes as institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and large pension plans look to enhance their secondaries investment capabilities.

In October, GIC hired former Pantheon Ventures executive Jeremy Weisberg as an assistant vice-president in its New York office focusing on secondaries, and former Newbury Partners investment professional Brian Kapetanis joined the fund in 2014.

GIC did not return requests for comment.

GIC manages $344 billion in assets, according to a ranking by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute.
