Ex-Landmark team joins Cresset Partners

Scott Conners, a former partner at the secondaries firm, will lead the private equity arm at Cresset, which caters for HNWIs and family offices.

Three Landmark Partners alumni have joined the private equity arm of a new investment manager to launch primary, secondaries and co-investment offerings.

Scott Conners, Michael Carrano and Jason Neal will establish the sponsor products team at Cresset Partners, a Chicago-based firm formed less than a year ago, according to a statement from the firm.

Cresset was founded to give high-net-worth-individuals, family offices and registered investment advisors access to the same private market opportunities as institutional investors.

Conners, who is coming out of retirement to take the job, will lead the team. He spent 22 years at Landmark, becoming partner and co-manager of the private equity secondaries team before retiring in 2015.

Carrano, who was a managing director at Landmark, will have the same role at Cresset. Neal, who was vice-president of investor relations and business development at the Connecticut-headquartered secondaries firm, will become director of business development.

Cresset was founded by Eric Becker and Avy Stein, founder members of private equity firms Sterling Partners and Willis Stein Partners respectively
