Debevoise promotes secondaries partner

The move comes after the law firm promoted two of its professionals, whose work includes secondaries, in January.

Matthew Dickman

Debevoise & Plimpton has named a lawyer whose work includes GP-led secondaries in its latest class of partners.

The law firm has promoted London-based Matthew Dickman from 1 July, according to a statement. His promotion is among nine across the firm.

Dickman, a leader in the firm’s alternative assets transactions and liquidity solutions group, advises fund sponsors and investors on general partner stake transactions, seed investments and secondary transactions, the statement noted.

He has recently advised technology and venture funds, according to his company biography.

The promotion comes after New-York headquartered Debevoise promoted two of its professionals, whose work includes secondaries, in January, as Secondaries Investor reported.

The fight for talent in secondaries remains fierce in the legal world, as in the investing and intermediating spheres. Travers and Smith added a GP-led focused partner last week, Secondaries Investor reported. Last month, Ropes & Gray brought on its third senior lawyer in a year with secondaries experience, in addition to two the firm promoted internally.
