Commonfund names Mark Anson CIO

The appointment of Anson, who served as CIO of CalPERS and the British Telecom Pension Scheme, will become effective in January.

Commonfund, an investment manager for endowments, foundations and the public sector, has appointed Mark Anson as its new chief investment officer (CIO), according to a statement from the firm.

Anson will join Commonfund in January. He currently serves as CIO of the Robert Bass Family Office and previously worked as CIO for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and for the British Telecom Pension Scheme.

At Commonfund, Anson will report to chief executive officer and president Catherine Keating. He will serve on the firm’s operating committee and will chair the investment policy and asset allocation committees.

Commonfund Capital, the private capital business of $25 billion Commonfund, is targeting $150 million for its new dedicated secondaries fund, Commonfund Capital Secondary Partners 2015, as Secondaries Investor previously reported.
