17Capital, a preferred equity specialist, has hired a Lazard advisory professional who was listed in Secondaries Investor‘s Young Guns of Secondaries Class of 2017.

Pierre Garnier joined the London-headquartered firm in June as a vice-president, according to his LinkedIn profile. A spokeswoman for the firm confirmed his appointment.

Garnier spent three years at Lazard where he was most recently a vice-president focusing on secondary transfers of limited partnership and direct investments, as well as on the sale or spin-out of management companies, and fund restructurings across alternative asset classes, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He ranked third in the Young Guns list last year and has been described as a “secondaries addict”. The former Pantheon investment professional has worked on the buy- and sellside in London and Paris, with around $4 billion-worth of deals to his name as of September. These included single LP stake sales to complex GP-led processes.

17Capital is investing its 2016-vintage fourth preferred equity fund, which closed on €1.2 billion, according to PEI data.

In early June Secondaries Investor reported Lazard had hired Greenhill Cogent’s Nadira Huda as a director in its London office. Her official start date is unclear.
