Stafford taps former Amundi exec for North America role

Joe Carrabes has joined the investment firm as it seeks capital for at least two real assets strategies.

Stafford Capital Partners has hired a former Amundi investment professional as builds out its business in North America.

Joseph Carrabes has joined from the French asset manager where he was a senior vice-president based in Boston, according to a statement. His role is head of client solutions.

“I see great potential for Stafford to support high-quality investors on their net-zero journeys and believe the firm is well positioned to tackle the opportunities in the North American market.” Carrabes said in the statement.

Carrabes spent five and a half years at Amundi and was responsible for working with institutional investors in the US Northeast across equities, fixed income, alternatives and ESG issues, according to his LinkedIn profile.

It is Stafford’s second client solutions hire in quick succession, after Valentina Abbott joined as global head of the division in June with a brief to attract more investment to the firm’s sustainability platforms.

Commenting on Carrabes’ arrival, Abbott said: Stafford recognises its responsibility as an investor to contribute to a more sustainable financial system by taking a long-term, responsible approach to investing across alternatives. Joe’s experience will be invaluable for Stafford in supporting our clients across the region with their net-zero efforts.”

In February, Stafford led a consortium of investors backing a continuation fund transaction that saw a portfolio of 15 infrastructure investments moved into a new vehicle managed by France-headquartered Vauban Infrastructure Partners.

The London-headquartered firm is seeking €1.3 billion for Stafford Infrastructure Secondaries Fund V. It has raised at least €185 million for the fund, according to Secondaries Investor data. It is also in market with Stafford International Timberland Fund X.
