Liquid expands its portfolio team

The San Francisco-based secondaries firm has hired Rein Gabriel as an associate. Last month it hired former SL Green/Gramercy Capital executive John Graham to boost its acquisitions team.

US firm Liquid Realty Partners, which specialises in secondary real estate buyouts, has hired Rein Gabriel to augment its portfolio management team.

Rein has held consulting, asset management and acquisitions positions with Lend Lease-Rosen Consulting Group, Prudential Financial, UBS Realty Investors and JB Matteson Institutional Capital Partners. He holds a Masters in business administration from University of Edinburgh Management School, and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Francsico State University.

“Rein’s deep experience will be especially valuable as the firm continues to build its portfolio management team during this challenging market environment”, Jeff Giller, Liquid’s managing principal and chief investment officer told PERE.

In the current economic climate all general partners are aggressively managing their portfolios as real estate fundamentals begin to weaken, including secondaries. Liquid’s expansion of its portfolio management team is a prime example of this.

“Given the challenging real estate environment, Liquid has increased its focus on portfolio management and driving performance. Rein’s experience will be valuable in helping us to achieve these objectives.” Scott Landress, managing principal and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Founded in 2002, Liquid manages more than $1 billion (€778 million) in closed equity investments.
