HQ makes second senior hire in weeks

The secondaries buyer, which added a business development director in September, has looked outside finance for its new head of comms and IR.

HQ Capital has brought on a new global head of communications and investor relations – its second senior hire in recent weeks.

Ulrich von Rotenham joins from public relations firm CNC Communications & Network Consulting, according to a statement from the firm.

At CNC, Von Rotenham advised a number of private equity firms, including – for the past 18 months – HQ Capital, the statement noted. He will be based in Bad Homburg, Germany and report to HQ Capital chief executive Georg Wunderlin.

Von Rotenham was at CNC’s Frankfurt office for 12 years, rising to the position of director, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In late September, HQ Capital also appointed Amy Thiessen as its head of business development for North America, with the job of raising capital and developing strategic partnerships. She joined from real estate investment manager Park Madison Partners.

HQ Capital collected $250 million for Auda Asia Secondary Fund in April, beating its $200 million target, according to PEI data. The firm’s fourth flagship secondaries fund, Auda Secondary Fund IV, closed on $503 million in May, ahead of its $450 million target.

Both funds target transactions ranging from $10 million to $20 million in value. They can purchase LP stakes in buyout, growth and VC funds, among other strategies, and back complex secondaries transactions.
