Cipio promotes head of finance to partner

The promotion follows a first close on €61m for the international private equity firm’s sixth fund, which is targeting €200m. As head of finance at the direct secondaries firm, Meyel built the firm's management and control systems.

Diana Meyel, former head of finance at Cipio Partners, has been promoted to partner.

Prior to joining the direct secondaries firm, Meyel served as finance manager at Wellington Partners, a European venture firm, where she handled investor relations and fundraising. At Cipio, Meyel built the firm’s management and control systems.

In the first half of 2009, Cipio acquired two portfolios of international investments, including a number of European venture capital assets in April from 3i Group, a London private equity firm, said to be worth between €17 million and €19 million by a source familiar with the deal.

In June the firm held a first close on €61 million for Cipio Partners Fund VI, targeting €200 million.
Cipio Partners, founded in 2003, manages late-stage venture capital, growth capital, and mid-market investments. The firm purchased the portfolio of DaimlerChrysler Venture in 2005 and acquired venture assets from Seimens in 2007. Cipio Partners also holds a private equity stake in Infineon Technologies and WestLB.

Operating from Munich, London, Luxembourg and San Jose, California, the firm currently manages over 50 companies worldwide in software, semiconductor, communications and new media industries. The firm states their portfolio represents invested capital of several hundred million dollars.
