Abbott seeks secondaries VP

The fund of funds manager had raised more than $100m for its debut dedicated secondaries fund as of July.

Abbott Capital Management is looking for a secondaries-focused vice-president to join its New York headquarters, according to a job posting.

The successful candidate will work within the fund of funds manager’s investment team to “source, screen, evaluate, analyse, execute and monitor secondary private equity investments”, the posting notes.

Listed responsibilities include the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of potential secondaries deals, conducting due diligence and building and maintaining relationships with GPs, LPs and intermediaries.

The role also involves monitoring existing secondaries investments, including “reviewing financial statements, serving on advisory boards, attending annual meetings and other GP updates”.

Applicants require five years of experience in secondaries investing or comparable related experience and a track record of sourcing, leading and closing deals. An MBA is preferred.

Abbott Capital had raised $102.5 million for Abbott Secondary Opportunities, its debut dedicated secondaries fund, as of July.

Abbott’s annual funds typically make both primary and secondaries investments in private equity funds and have ranged in size between $80 million and $150 million in recent years, according to PEI data.

Abbott Capital manages over $7 billion in private equity assets from its offices in New York and London.
